Chemo Hiatus

It's both wonderful and weird to be home. Wonderful because, well, duh. Weird because we know it's only temporary. And with Charlotte's blood counts being low over the weekend, we were limited in what we could do. We have taken full advantage of the nice weather - ambushing Connor with the hose, s'mores around the fire pit, and walks down the street.

We had a follow up visit with Dr. Brittany today and the three of us left feeling confident about what is to come. We'll be admitted next week for more methotrexate and will finally be placing an NG tube for nutrition; potentially medication, too, which would be an added bonus. While we would have loved to continue without it, the stress we feel at home is too much. Charlotte is not excited about the actual process of having it placed, but she loves the idea of Connor & I getting off her back! The visions of teenage Charlotte have been strong with each reminder to eat - that eye roll, though!

Another big milestone? I'd say we are 95% certain which route we will go surgically. We'll meet a couple more times with Dr. Jesse and his team to solidify the plan and nail down a date, most likely the end of the month or beginning of August. It's still going to be a long road once surgery is complete, but knowing how we'll finish the journey is a ginormous weight lifted off of our shoulders.
This week is all about sunshine, friends, and being a regular ol' kid. Let's do it!
