Post-Op

We are almost two weeks out from Charlotte's surgery and we are feeling great! Our visits at SCH today confirmed our feelings, as the team is thrilled with how Charlotte is healing & progressing.
The day started with physical therapy. While she was pushed a bit harder than we've done at home, the main goals for today were things we had already been practicing. Jacob showed us some additional exercises which would encourage her quads to rejoin the party and continue to increase her overall strength. Charlotte was grumbly, but I'd like to think she was pleased with the positive reinforcement. (She's never been one to shy away from praise! #humble)

While I love the fact that appointments appear in MyChart for us, I do wish I had more say in the timing of said appointments, as we had three hours to kill before Charlotte's next visits. We opted to go home briefly for lunch & laundry and took a different route back to the hospital. You know, to keep things interesting. (PS. Jeff's Auto Repair on Sand Point Way - please update your reader board!)
Our nutrition visit was next on the list and wouldn't you know it?! The NG tube is doing its job. Charlotte is up 5lbs - insert fireworks & confetti here. It was already a win in our book as it allowed Connor and I to be parents & not food dictators, but to have the quantifiable proof is an absolute delight. We are hoping it continues to help Charlotte feel her best, especially with doxorubicin/cisplatin starting tomorrow.

Finally, we met with Dr. Jesse and Kristin, our ARNP. Every worry we ever had was immediately erased the second they saw Charlotte. We felt strongly that what we were doing at home was going to help, but the reaction we got from them gave us the indication that Charlotte is ahead of schedule recovery-wise. From pain management, to mobility, to her ease of using the walker... I have never been prouder. And not just of Charlotte. I am extremely proud of Connor & I. Yep, I said it. #humble
