Round 10

Round 10
Always reppin'

Starting to feel like a broken record over here, but we're back at Hotel SCH for more chemo. Bust out your pom-poms, though, as this is the final round of cisplatin! We are celebrating every milestone as they come.

Last week's methotrexate admission was pretty darn successful. Nausea was minimal, the NG tube stayed in place, and the new formula seems to be agreeing with Charlotte. We also saw her appetite increase! Who knows if it's from the rate being low or the formula itself, but again, we're taking the victories where we can get them.

We also had a visit from one of Charlotte's friends during our last admission - a first! I have been so impressed with all of Charlotte's pals who have made time for her during this crazy time. They have been up for last minute hangs, they have sent her snail mail, and they have been so loving every step of the way. The tubes and the slower pace don't bother them one bit. They are great girls and I'm glad Charlotte has such sweet friends.

Following the rules of walking well behind them!

We were greeted this admission by our friend Celeste, who came bearing Charlotte's newest prize - her half marathon Go Your Distance medal! It is hanging proudly on her IV pole. As her leg gets stronger and stronger, we have no doubt she will be adding some mileage to her total. She has been pushing herself this admission, as we left the wheelchair in the car! Yes, you read that right. She has used the walker or crutches exclusively since we've been here. I think back to the days before surgery, questioning if we were doing right by Charlotte with electing limb salvage. Every day she is showing us this was exactly the decision we were supposed to make. She is tough as nails and we are proud AF.

13.1!

We're trying to bring a bit of brightness to the CBDC unit, with a mail station outside of our room. The mailbox was a gift from our Sarcoma Sister in hopes they could write notes to each other while admitted. This has turned into a delight for the staff and other patients, too, and has left Charlotte with a handful of kind messages!

Keep walking, doctors.

After yesterday's infusion, Charlotte is wiped, which has been par for the course with the cisplatin/doxorubicin combo. She was excited about getting out of the room for PT earlier this morning, but has been resting since then. While Connor and I would normally be encouraging laps and other movement, for our own sanity as much as Charlotte's recovery, today will be low key. The infusion for today just started and we can't wait to kick cisplatin to the curb tonight. BYE!
