Vacation Vibes
We did it. We travelled! We packed every medication, Charlotte's lidocaine cream and even the roll of Glad Press n' Seal (if you know you know) - we brought every last thing to Hawaii.

Up until two or three days before we left, I was still holding my breath. I wanted to believe it could happen, but didn't want to get my hopes up. Charlotte had her counts checked multiple times before our flight and, while they were low, they weren't low enough to prevent us from leaving. There was peace of mind in knowing Oahu had a children's hospital should anything come up.
While traveling certainly felt different/scary/overwhelming, a change of scenery and a change of pace were exactly what we needed. Charlotte swam for the first time since her surgery and loved every second. She was doing flips and handstands, diving for rings! Her and I even dabbled in synchronized swimming. (LA 2028, here we come!) We reunited with friends we hadn't seen since the before times and ate ALL of the best things: fish tacos, fresh pineapple, shave ice & malasadas. Food pyramid essentials, obviously.

Charlotte was in her element! Watching her walk around, proudly and confidently, was the best. And while the helicopter parenting was more intense than previous years, she took it in stride and kept reminding us she was ok. (While rolling her eyes a time or two.)
There were no trips to the hospital, no bloody noses and (equally as exciting) no sunburns on her head! We will be forever grateful to our team for adjusting admissions & appointments in order for this trip to happen.
