We're Walking!

We're Walking!
Places to go and people to see.

Yesterday was a big day for our girl - she got up and walked! And once she was up, she didn't necessarily want to stop. We made the arduous journey to the opposite end of the unit so Charlotte could say hi to her friend, who had her surgery last week, too. There were smiles and hugs and looks between parents that were full of hope & wonder at what these girls are capable of!

Because Charlotte had such a successful day in PT, we officially got the boot from Hotel SCH! We were going home in less than a week - amazing! With how PT started after surgery, I was mentally preparing for a longer stay at the hospital. The epidural & catheter removal were absolute game changers for her. Once she started losing tubes and cords, she was more comfortable and more willing to push herself with the physical therapists.

Just waiting on discharge paperwork!

Home, while delightful, is different to navigate. It takes Charlotte longer to get from point A to point B, she is in a different room (away from her crew of Squishmallows), and Connor & I are moonlighting as amateur nurses. If you need pills crushed or cut, we're your people!

Our sweet neighbor making Charlotte feel all the feels.

We know this phase is temporary. With more movement and more PT, we are confident Charlotte will feel more like herself in her body. This is undoubtedly a marathon and not a sprint!
